The development of the Sd.Kfz. 7 can be traced back to the Wehrmacht's request for an 8-tonne (8.3 t) half-track in 1934. It ran from 1934 to 1938, with production ceasing in 1944. It was built by KraussMaffei in Munich, Zollern in Vienna and the Bauwer factory in Bremen.The Sd.Kfz. 7 was fitted with 2 cm Flakvierling 38 L/65 quadruple antiaircraft gun mounts with open and armoured cabs.At the end of December 1944 750-800 units were produced.
