The North American P-51D Mustang was a high altitude escort fighter aircraft during WWII. This beautiful piece of aviation history is considered by many to be the best plane of the war. One thing is for certain, this aircraft contributed greatly to the victory of the allies over Germany. It significantly reduced bomber losses to enemy FW190s and BF109s. Even the more sophisticated ME262 was subject to the Mustang's cannons. Eventually, the invention of the jet engine put planes like this out of business as they were exchanged for faster and stronger jet aircraft. Many Aces were made in this plane. George Preddy, the top Mustang ace, was credited with shooting down a total of 27.5 enemy aircraft. This plane saw its last military use by the United States in the Korean War. Now, it's been adapted to civilian use, but the legend of one of the greatest war birds of all time remains. *Due to the games constraint and the utter weakness of it's propellor engines, this plane can't be equipped with landing gear and still fly properly. It'll just be too heavy. To fly, you must start in the air with your engine throttled up. The aircaft maxes out at about ????? and is also VERY STABLE.
