Description:

The DRS (Dan (Salvadorian) Resistance Ship) Monarch was an ironclad warship that brought Dan Salvador its independence during Diaca's last stand at the battle of Salvador Sea in June 14, 1892.

But the Monarch's rise to glory had already begun even in her time in service to the Diacan Navy. The Monarch had fought against the Dan Salvadorian Independent forces valiantly before being captured by the Salvadorians in 1887. Under Dan Salvadorian command, the Ironclad had also fought in many pivotal battles that lead to Dan Salvador regaining independence.

Fearless charge:

On the 14th of June, 1892, DRS Monarch was among the fleet of Salvadorian ironclad warships defending the Salvador Sea from the Diacan 13th fleet, their largest fleet yet. Morale on the Salvadorian fleet was somewhat low after they failed to sink the DN Impenetrable, flagship of the Diacan 8th fleet just a week before.

The 13th fleet, lead by DN Invincible (DN Impenetrable's sister ship) with faster and more heavily armed ships crossed the T on the Salvadorian ironclads, now having changed tactics and ran parallel with the Diacan line, both fleets exchanging broadsides.

Without warning, DRS Monarch which was third in the Salvadorian line, broke formation, and charged for the gap between the damaged Diacan flagship and the ship ahead of it. The Monarch only took five hits, almost penetrating its armor as it weaves through the labyrinth of cannon fire by the Diacans who fired at the formation breaker.

This move however, took the focused fire off the other Salvadorian ships, who now focused their broadside shots on the Diacan flagship, further slowing it down and buying time for the Monarch to cross its bow. The Monarch fired 2 broadsides as it crosses the Invincible's bow, piercing its damaged armor and setting fire to Invincible's magazine, causing it to violently explode several minutes later.

After the Invincible's demise, the 13th fleet fell into disarray and were picked off by the Salvadorians, whose hope had been renewed by the Monarch's Fearless Charge

Untimely Re-Commisionning:

After the independence of Dan Salvador, the young but resource rich nation sought to strengthen its navy and build new ships, but after the Tsunami of 1901, the Dan Salvadorians were short of ships, and the Monarch was one of the few that were close to combat capable in Dan Salvador's inventory, so she was re-commissioned and was mostly protected by the Royalty-Class Pre-Dreadnought named in honor of her, the DSN Monarch II.
