The Dolphin
The Dolphin (The "The" is part of the name) is the effectively typical Eastern Seaboard fighter. As the Eastern Seaboard's city-states regularly squabble among each other and alliances are often fragile, they usually prefer versatile aircraft as opposed to specialized ones. Moreover, it's common for them, specially the ones whose power derives more strongly from their air fleets, to engage in the production of large aircraft as prestige projects. As a result, not only are Eastern Seaboard planes usually larger on account of size translating to potential, but they have developed the unusual trait of using turrets as an important part of their firepower to fully exploit each others' blind spots.
In spite of it's size and weight, The Dolphin is not to be trifled with, as it's aerodynamic body allows it to possess what is nevertheless acceptable speeds for a fighter while also carrying two gunners. The biplane tail, in particular, enables The Dolphin's turrets to have a completely unimpeded arc of fire. However, this is offset by the cost and level of care required by The Dolphin's structure, which is compounded by most Eastern Seaboard cities expecting their combantants to pay for their own gear, including aircrews. This is compounded by The Dolphin's relative incapability of carrying out civilian tasks, making it the purview of pilots who are either rich or have sponsors. Either way, it's common for The Dolphin jockeys to possess a second aircraft for peacetime.
