EC-130F Hercules, Delta Federation Air Force
Le (Fictional) Relay and Electro Herc
The EC-130F is a multipurpose airborne relay, electronic communications, and electronic warfare aircraft based on the EC-130G platform. The EC-130F includes wingtip mounted electronic pods, a noticeable hump on the top fuselage housing electronics, and 2 side EW platforms. Its primary mission is relay of communications and signals but can also do electronic warfare missions.
The EC-130F was introduced in early 1965 towards the middle of the [Insert clever name for Vietnam] War as a replacement for the NC-121J Blue Eagle and the EC-121R Batcat in the relay of communications and signals role. The Delta Federation Air Force decided to buy 5 of the aircraft but increased their order to 10. The first 3 were delivered in 1967 and were flown to [Insert clever name for Vietnam] to participate in the war. The rest were delivered between 1969-1974. The EC-130Fs were then retired in favor of the EC-130H Compass Call and later the EC-130J Commando Solo III. One still operates, now registered N624RS, as a testbed for Relocan Systems
