F-14A Tomcat V2.3
Grumman F-14A Tomcat (Late)
For SimplePlanes
Country of Origin: United States
Role: Interceptor, Air Superiority Fighter, Multirole Fighter
Crew: 2
Livery: Special US Navy VFA-154 “Black Knights” (Low-Vis)
The cancellation of the F-111 program led to further development of Grumman’s 303 design, which became the F-14A Tomcat. Like the F-111, it has the AN/AWG-9 radar operated by a Radar Intercept Officer (RIO), AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, and variable-sweep wings. Although it was an improvement compared to the F-111, the F-14A was by no means perfect, with the main flaw being the TF30 engines, which were both underpowered and prone to compressor stalls. Late F-14A’s were fitted with the LANTIRN Targeting System (LTS), which allowed for the use of the AN/AAQ-14 LANTIRN targeting pod with laser-guided munitions and became standard on the later F-14B and F-14D.
The F-14 was retired from US Navy service in 2006 and the only remaining operator of the F-14 is Iran, which continues to use and upgrade the F-14A. Most American F-14’s have been gutted of their avionics and internal systems, if not dismantled completely to prevent Iran from acquiring spare parts. Read more...

Author's Notes
- Fuel and gun ammo is unlimited.
- On takeoff from runways, I recommend 100% flaps with 60% trim. Get to around 300 km/h and give slight taps for the pitch to avoid tail striking. If taking of from the carrier, use similar settings and give a tap of pitch as you leave the deck. (For keyboard users)
- On landing, use the trim to achieve your glide slope and adjust using pitch. (For keyboard users) Make sure to reset your trim before braking to avoid swerving.
- Applying full afterburner when sustaining high angles of attack at low speed will cause a compressor stall, causing an engine failure.
- Trim is essential, especially as the wings start sweeping.

XML Changelog
[V2.1 07/08/2022] Fixed typo in compressor stall FT for right engine. Changed FT for outer spoiler; does not deploy at lower speed.
[V2.2 08/07/2022] Changed FT for wing sweep, reduces sweep when pitching to allow better high speed maneuverability. Slightly reduced drag. Now easier to compressor stall.
[V2.3 08/09/2022] Improved target pod tracking.

Here are some pictures I took of the F-14 in person, just for fun.
F-14D: Completely hollow, no engines, no instruments, nothing.
F-14A: This one actually still has the engines at least, but they are TF30's.
No gloves :c
@Cir8 The roll is more sensitive when pitching. You have to counter it manually.
when ever i apply pitch and a little bit of roll, sometimes it suddenly it just roll without me even pressing it roll, is it just me or it has to do something with the aircraft itself.
Sure @TheCommentaryGuy
@NEOCORP Because thats how Fighters fly irl
@LegendaryPilot USN not USAF
@TheWeebREBORN to reduce maintenance and they werent actually very useful
.
they did look cool tho
If i do an early f-14a ill put them
@ReinMcDeer hmph never knew. Why were they removed?
@TheWeebREBORN the wing gloves? This is a late A model, so by this point most tomcats had them removed or welded shut
@ReinMcDeer Also where are the surfaces in front of the wings that come out when the primary wings sweep in?
@ReinMcDeer I would make that livery I've been eluding too, but I'm gonna wait for the F-14D.
Man, the USAF really loves the word "Tom" huh?
@ReinMcDeer :D
@Reworkable Thanks to you :v
@ReinMcDeer Congrats on 40k :D
I will update it to the F14 su4
HIGH WAY TO THE DANGER ZONE. GONNA TAKE IT RIGHT INTO THE DANGER ZONE.
@NEOCORP Because when you pull full aft stick in a fighter jet, they tend to not like it very much, especially this one.
Before I apologize. why do the planes you make always have poor performance and stability? sorry I didn't mean to insult your plane. (Design 9.5/10 ) ( Performance 2/10)
@ReinMcDeer I see now
@ReinMcDeer cool!
@TRD6932 it cannot, iirc that was for experimental purposes
@OrionIndustries second one is the Pacific Coast Air Museum, they're great too
@ReinMcDeer for the pinned comment, the first one is Wings over the rockies. Great museum. No idea what the second one is.
