JU Jet MK.2

12.5k Flash0of0green  8.7 years ago

The JU Jet is designed to be small. In combat this jet is designed to be hard to hit and to hit hard. Mark 2 is a group collaboration between me and simple plans community members that made very helpful suggestions to the Mark 2's overall design. The new features are improved our armaments, shorter take off time, airbrakes, higher speed, and lastly slightly longer wing lanth.

You should invert the pitch surfaces on the main wings (Or remove them altogether). Right now they're just lowing your lift when you try to pitch, which is the opposite of what you want. The wing loading's still very high, but it's much better than before. +1.

It is better than the Mk 1, and rather considerably. The Air Brakes now allowed pilots to land at less than high speed. It was twice as fast, flying around 700mph. The guns are noticeably better, but the combination of insane aileron authority and poor elevator authority at any speed ensures this aircraft cannot aim sufficiently to use missiles. Against the Hummingbird, it proved to be nothing more than target practice. Elevator authority at high speeds is poor, and nonexistent at low speeds. Takeoff roll is comparable to a four-engine Dominator Heavy Bomber while carrying a load the equivalent to the empty weight of this jet. I suggest adding canards (horizontal stabilizers on the front) to solve these issues. Endurance is exceptionally poor, but is to be expected for an aircraft of this size and engine power.

@Flash0of0green its wings look a lot more proportional to the body! so now it doesn't look like a big dart!
