The Kosa Class destroyer was one of humanity's first spaceborne warships, first commissioned in 2629 and used by the United World Alliance in the Pre-Crossing War. During the Crossing, the surviving units were retrofitted with better weaponry and defense, and were also equipped with a primordial FTL drive to serve as escorts for the Arkships that were to leave Earth once and for all. Hundreds of years later, after humanity has re-established itself among the stars and formed the Continuum Empire, the last of the Kosa Class destroyers that have survived the centuries of deep-space travel were assigned to local system patrols before finally being decommissioned by the Continuum Navy in 2972. Although the Navy no longer uses this ship, the Kosa Class found itself being used by local militia, even falling to the hands of pirate and rebel organizations via black market. A notorious example of such was the StarSaber, the flagship of the notorious pirate group Black Veil.
