An improved version of the Mk 1 Pistol. Two major complaints were made of the original Mk 1: It was very large and the 9mm cartridge was insufficient against Spartans, who wore thick body armor and took multiple hits to stop without armor. As a result, the Pilotmario Army Arsenal decided to shorten the barrel and introduce the significantly more powerful .40 caliber or 10mm cartridge, capable of stopping a Spartan with a shot to the chest. This provided Pilotmario soldiers a convenient backup weapon with plenty of firepower.
