HXE-112 (SWAF)
The HXE-112 is a development of the Halcyon Navy's HX-112 anti-submarine helicopter, and serves as the primary anti-submarine and battlefield mobility helicopter of the Saltwater armed forces. Operated by the SWAF, SWMC and SWFSC the HXE-112 is equally capable in a number of roles, including anti-submarine warfare, search and rescue and battlefield mobility, as well as serving as a light attack helicopter if needed.
.
Differences from the original HX-112 include the removal of the original landing gear and its replacement with larger, stronger examples to better take the stress of deck-landing. The permanent radar, MAD boom and missile launchers were removed and replaced with modular versions, allowing the HXE-112 to "swing roles" more easily. The tail assembly was modified slightly and Saltwater-standard equipment fitted throughout.
.
The HXE-112 can carry 16 depth charges internally, along with four externally. Its stub wings can also carry four anti-submarine missiles or torpedoes. With the stub wings removed it can carry advanced radar systems, sonarbuoy launchers or magnetic anomaly detection systems. In the nose it is fitted with a radar scanner capable of detecting shipping from up to 120 miles away.
.
The original HX-112 cockpit has been overhauled with large glass windows, armoured seats and a Kevlar lining to guard against shrapnel. In the cabin it can carry up to twelve fully-equipped soldiers or anti-submarine equipment and four operators. The cabin has composite armour surrounding the occupants on three sides, with additional Kevlar matting providing further protection. It is accessed via two main doors, one on either side of the cabin.
.
The HXE-112, as it stands, is capable of reaching up to 165 mph with a standard load of soldiers. Without the extra weight it has been tested to 178 mph. The twin-engined design means that there is superior survivability over previous helicopters. The aircraft is the most numerous manned aircraft in the Saltwater inventory.
THROTTLE to move upwards.
VTOL to move towards.
TRIM, roll, pitch and yaw as normal.
