This was an aircraft purely meant to brake speed records and it did succeed, it was never put into any military service and was only used for propoganda though it would hope it would relate to the Bf-109 already in service, it was given the name Me-209 purely to cause confusion with the Bf-109, but Willy Messerschmitt did try to make it a successor to the Bf-109
