The A-16 (1985) was an experimental close air support variant of the F-16 Fighting Falcon, developed by the U.S. Air Force to explore the possibility of replacing the A-10 Thunderbolt II. Designed to provide low-altitude precision strike capabilities, the A-16 featured modifications such as structural reinforcements, enhanced avionics, and additional hardpoints for carrying a wide variety of air-to-ground munitions. The aircraft was equipped with the GPU-5/A Pave Claw gun pod, housing a 30mm GAU-13/A cannon for close combat. Despite its versatility, the A-16 struggled with recoil issues from the gun pod, which led to reduced accuracy. Ultimately, the A-16 program was canceled in favor of the A-10, which remained the primary aircraft for close air support missions.
All credit to Kismit, I just added a gun pod and some XML changes to his amazing F-16 model
