Any time, wingman.
The SCF-32 Breech, affectionately called the "Wingman's Jet," earned its nickname due to its exceptional reliability in providing support both in ground operations and aerial engagements. Introduced in 1968, the Breech replaced the SCF-30 Seductor, bringing advanced capabilities to the forefront of attack aviation. Despite its impactful performance, the SCF-32 Breech had a notably brief production run, lasting only five years, from 1968 to 1973, with a total of 671 units produced. Its compact production lifespan underscores the rapid advancements in aerospace technology during that era, as newer models quickly emerged to meet evolving tactical requirements. Nonetheless, the SCF-32 Breech remains a symbol of dependable support and efficiency, solidifying its place in the legacy of Starcrest aviation.
The SCF-32 Breech was a highly capable air support platform, equipped with an array of weaponry to deliver decisive firepower in diverse combat scenarios. In its ground support role, it could deploy precision-guided munitions like SGB-16 Buster III guided bombs and JDAMs, as well as AGM-65 air-to-ground missiles, enabling it to engage fortified positions, armored vehicles, and high-value targets with surgical accuracy. Its close air support was further bolstered by its dual 20 mm cannons, providing reliable and rapid firepower against ground threats.
In air-to-air engagements, the Breech proved equally formidable, capable of carrying a variety of advanced missiles tailored to different combat scenarios. These included AIM-9D and AIM-9E Sidewinders, R.550 Magic missiles, SCATRAM Mark IIs, and SCATRAM Mark Is, allowing it to effectively engage enemy aircraft and maintain air superiority. The Breech's weapon systems, coupled with its agility and reliability, made it an indispensable asset in providing comprehensive support to both ground forces and allied aircraft, living up to its nickname as the "Wingman's Jet."
