Barrums F.77 Apollo
My entry to @RejsDen ‘s amphibian challenge
The year is 1972, and the soviet ekranoplan is still an unknown quantity. However, NATO Intelligence has theorised that such an aircraft could deliver a nuclear warhead under the radar. As such, a specification for a new aircraft is released: A supersonic Interceptor capable of low level flight and water based operations.
Barrums Aerospace designed the F.77 to this specification and, by all accounts, it was a strange aircraft. It had a flying boat hull, something unseen since the SR-1A fighter prototype. It used a variable geometry wing in order to be able to fly at high speeds while being slow enough to safely land on water
However, the Apollo was outclassed by carrier borne aircraft and, as the ekranoplan threat never materialised, it was a plane stripped of it’s raison d’etre. The F.77 Program was cancelled in 1977 with no surviving airframes.

There was a folding float system that i removed because it was complex and pointless, I’ve fixed it in the successor @RejsDen
For takeoff and landing, I put 5/5. For flying qualities 4/5. FOR appearance 4/5. My question is, how were the floats supposed to work? After activating the first group, it begins to shake and eventually breaks off. Therefore, from myself I put 4/5. A total of 17 points
