__About__

The British Rail Type-37 is a diesel-electric locomotive. Also known as the English Electric Type 3, the Class of diesel was ordered as part of the British Rail modernisation plan in the 1960s as steam was becoming unreliable and expensive.

The Type-37 became a familiar sight on many parts of the British Rail network, in particular forming the main motive power for Inter-City services in East Anglia and within Scotland. They also performed well on secondary and inter-regional services for many years. The Type-37s are known to many railway enthusiasts as "Tractors", a nickname due to the agricultural sound of the diesel engine of the locomotive. The Type-37s being over 60 years old, should all be in museums. But, Hundreds of them are still in service today. The Type-37 is unarguably an iconic British masterpiece and I don't know about you lot, but it is close to my heart.
