F-14X Advanced Tomcat MKII
What if the F-14, X-02 and YF-23 had a threesome? A Stealth Tomcat!
Also, this is among the coldest screenshots in simpleplanes
#I ain't got any lore on me so lets get into it.
-Foldable Ruddervators
The ruddervators fold in a similar manner to the X-02 Wyvern.
-Variable Geometry Wings
The classic Tomcat quirk.
-3D thrust vectoring
Self-explanitory.
-Thrust Differential
Splitting the Throttles!!
-Tracking HUD
It follows where you look and can be turned off.
-PID fly-by-wire
Smooth handling and makes post stall in all axis a lot easier.
•It also has an integral regulator thanks to Quercon, basically a feedback loop that keeps the integral of a PID in check. What this means is that you wont be yeeted off the runway when taking off.
-ACE Engine
Adaptive Thrust.
Wyvern Weapons Bays
You wont see it if your not looking for it.
The main manual is ingame but theres a few things you should know.
-The HUD is turned off by default, there is a button on the top left of the main screen that says 'HUD'.
-When taking off from a carrier catapult, the throttle should be more than 70%.
-The 3D thrust vectoring on the Yaw axis only works above 15% throttle.
Flight Model Configurations
The plane flies differently depending on the configuration of swing wing and ruddervator you choose.
•1.The default configuration is best suited for the cobra maneuver.
•2.Folding the ruddervators and keeping it unswept is perfect for yaw maneuvers (You can drift, but in the air :D) and PSM in general.
•3.Fully swept and unfolded ruddervators is perfect for deck storage.
•4.Fully swept and folded ruddervators is its least maneuvarable setup, but PSM is still possible, just a lot slower.
Lets say you want to perform a flat spin (once a weakness of the Tomcat now a strength), use configuration 2, enable AG4, keep it around stall speed and hit the afterburners right before you turn for maximum torque.
-This is not as polished as I wanted due to the part count lagging me out.
-Like my other planes, I did not use any one particular blueprint to fully design this, but multiple were used to design this.
-Yes I know this is technically 'low observable' and not true stealth, but if the Felon is considered as a stealth fighter then so can this.
-I used a lot of Guyfolk parts to make this, along with the parts VR cockpit I made with my previous Tomcat. Basically, a lot of third party parts
-It was supposed to be a jolly rodgers Advanced Tomcat but after a little advice from L1nus I decided to change the name to Just Advanced Tomcat, the MKII is just there cause its my second one.
Quercon- The Integral Regulator and FT ingeneral
32- The Screenshots and stress testing
VeroViper- The fins
L1nus- Stress testing
MABUR- Front landing gear (Note, it has been heavily modified)
Guyfolk- A few codes (modified) and the weapons system
If I am missing any more credits let me know, I will add them as a pinned comment if the post has been curated.

Next on the chopping block? A helicopter collab...

What the fu## Threesome 💀
@Dex89
On the topic of the bay, its meant to be like that so that the missiles can slip through and yes I've been meaning to update the fly by wire.
Buddy, the jet are pretty cool, i love it, but i've a bit of bug, the bomb bay cannot open, and sometimes in take of lost the control, hope you can fix it and made some jet!
@localaviationguy
But its more meant for carrier take off.
@localaviationguy
Well, you could use trim.
just to ask is there a way I can stop the plane from pitching up when I take off or no?
@LoneSpaceGaming
Cool when it's done let me know (fyi I am genuinely seeing this just now)

I’m making some modifications to this, don’t know if I’m gonna upload it, but I’m having issues. It’s been working well enough, but now all of the sudden it will continuously roll (typically left, but it can roll right too) without any input.
(I figured it out)

@3ch0I7
Nope, never played anything VR. I just wanted to make something cool.
I'm going to take a wild guess and assume you got a very small amount of motivation from VTOL VR
You had me at threesome
@LoneSpaceGaming
Also I do like the idea of automating stuff.
It makes skill issues harder to have.
You Tomcat fans that can get the plane right are God's strongests soldiers.
@LoneSpaceGaming
Also... Tomcat is a hard plane to get right...
Multiple redesigns.....
@LoneSpaceGaming
-Yeah I was thinking of doing that but, it kinda seemed unnecessary plus it is already overly complex.
-Damn, I see, I had to redesign the wings like 3 times. Your solution woulda probably helped it tbh... Eh, whenever I get to the MKIII
-I am gonna have to go to Youtube on that one lol.
-Yes, this Cat is very quirky and might decide to randomly stall on ya just for the lols. Jokes aside I plan to fix the weirdness on my newer planes (hopefully).
@ToeTips
I think it’s great, it’s supposed to be like the Tomcat after all. I know you aren’t trying to make a 1:1 Tomcat replica, so I’ll try to filter out my notes on the inaccuracies of the Tomcat.
1: Wing Sweep
The wing sweep is automatic (but has a manual and emergency [hydraulic] mode) and especially for a 5th Gen aircraft, I think the wing sweep would be automatic.
2: Wing Shape
Over all, it’s looks pretty good. I would have extended the trailing edge of the wing root, as it makes the aircraft look more realistic and less weak, and it would fill in most of the gap between the ruddervators. Just a personal preference, but something I think I should say.
3: Heads Up Display.
The HUD would I believe stay stationary above the glare shield, even if it’s displayed from the HMD. The Velocity Vector and Pitch Ladder are not accurate anywhere but pointing in the same direction as the nose.
Notes: The FBW and thrust vectoring is a little weird at times, but they’re far from easy to make a tune. Trust me. I’ve tried. (Semi-successfully)
I like the touch of automatic flaps, I think you would find those on most, if not all, 5th Gen aircraft.
Thanks for another great build, man!
(So sorry for another long comment!)
@ToeTips
I’ll fly it, then give you my critiques.
