Tackling Tern

480 AMPPL50  1.2 years ago

As the world rebuilt after the Crumbling and the development of the microalgae industry enabled marginal lands to be used in the production of fuel, aircraft once again became feasible. However, as industry would be limited, many air forces resurrected heavy fighters for use as high-speed strike aircraft. The USS was no stranger to this and, in their uniqueness, developed the Tackling Tern.
As a twin-seat, high-speed aircraft, the Tackling Tern's role was to engage in tactical reconnaissance, interdiction and interception duties. This particular machine is outfitted for attack duties: On top of the usual armament of four .50 HMGs in the nose, 4 20 mm cannons in the sponsons and 2 25 mm cannons, the underwing hardpoints are also fitted with 2 40 mm cannons and 2 250 pound bombs.
