Following the launch of the SS Branson, Sir Richard spent a lot of time at sea watching the gulls from the deck. It was during these peacful moments of contemplation that Sir Richard realised that total safety could only be won through air superiority. True, the SS Branson had state of the art air defence systems, but watching the gulls day after day in splendid isolation, Sir Richard realised that he needed control of the skies. He soon comissioned the brilliant minds at Virgin Air to build him a majestic interceptor, inspired by his new comrades, the gulls. With this he was sure he could guarentee the safety of his magnificent empire.
