Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVIII
The Supermarine Spitfire. Easily the most recognizeable plan of World War Two, the Spitfire is a photo-reconaissance, interceptor and fighter developed by Supermarine Aviation Works (A division of Vickers-Armstong Aircraft Corp.) in 1936.
This particular Mk. XVIII was in a very weird situation - In 1949, while the Spitfire was still in service (The Mk. XVIII was retired in 1952), this guy was trapped by AA fire.
Altough most of the plane was saved, the MGs and autocannons weren't. The models M2/M3 Browning MG and Hispano Mk.1/Mk.2 Autocannon were discontinued and the newer guns couldn't fit him. The gunsight was permanently disabled, leaving just the HUD frame.
The Rolls-Royce Griffon 2200hp 12-cylinder piston engine was rebuilt and refitted to the fuselage.The flight characteristics remained exactly the same as before.
Details include: Historically-accurate canopy, semi-detailed open cockpit, very detailed wings, split flaps, accurate landing gear set with realistic retraction and very smooth piston covers for the Griffon engine.
To move the flaps, activate AG1 and use the VTOL Bar. Flap presets include: Combat (20-25% Down); T/O (50-60% Down) and Landing (100% Down). To correct the aircraft's attitude, use the Trim bar. To steer whilst on the ground, activate AG2 and use Yaw. Be careful with him, especially at landing while braking. Good flying!

@TitanIncorporated I'm already making it, don't worry!
@GhostHTX Thanks, man! By the way, I seriously think. That doesn't make your plane any less great!
Its ok. Im glad you like it. I guess Im getting a wee bit touchy in my old age. I look forward to seeing your mk20! Tag me when its up?
Do you really think it is the cockpit that makes the difference in terms of d/l? Odd... Anyway, here is a spot and an updoot. @logizAircrafts
@GhostHTX I'm sorry. I'm currently making a Mk. XXIIb Spitfire based on your Mk. XIV and I hope you would see it when I publish it.
@logizAircrafts I just think it is a bit off that you liked my Spitfire enough to make your own version, but you dont even mention that pretty much 99% of it is my work in the description, thats all. The d/l and u/v thing is really a secondary consideration.
@GhostHTX I've not ignored your comment. My PC wouldn't let me comment (IDK why, but it just didn't). I will make a more detailed version. BUT, do ya know why I have 100+ Downloads and you're left under 30? Because I took advantage of an open cockpit design!
Seriously? Youre going to ignore my comment? Not even an honorable mention? @logizAircrafts
Mine is a Spitfire Mk. XVIIIe. Check it on War Thunder - Rank IV, under the Spitfire (Griffon) name. Open the variants section and choose the Mk. XVIIIe. See for yourself!
@logizAircrafts look
@HistoricBirds What was the Spiteful, then? I don't know!
@logizAircrafts no
Right. Someones going to have to explain this to me. This must be a young guys thing that us old guys dont get.
Someone takes my Spit, chops out the cockpit, removes most of the details, repaints it and gets more downloads and upvotes than the original.
Thank god for autocredit.
@HistoricBirds That's a joke, right?
this is a supekrmarine spiteful not spitfire
