2001 Space Odyssey (redesigned)
From one of the greatest visual masterpieces of Science Fiction - 2001: A Space Odyssey. I redesigned the space station a bit and, as in the film, the station is still under orbital construction. I also added the Pan Am plane seen in the film. I am attempting to make a mobile friendly version, since it’s so huge.
Controls:
AG 1 - Activate station engines then throttle up (when velocity reaches 1200 mph, throttle down and depress AG 1)
AG 2 - Seperate PanAm plane (wait till station velocity is under 200 mph)
AG 3 - activate plane engines which function through VTOL - up is forward, down is reverse.
I would have added more details, but my iPad kept crashing when undoing changes. And I also would love to have the plane actually leave from the hanger...maybe in a future update?

Can you post the one you have now?(mobile friendly)
@Tarquez
Sorry, buddy...Making a mobile friendly version @GreatHenry
Rip my phone
@Tarquez I could have run it on my PC but it is in RIP now
Thanks! Yeah, I've been working on a mobile version and I am down to 1850 parts, but it still crashes my iPhone6 + @AZAMGAMING
*And sees the part count and dies*
Little late but
congrats on the feature I dunno why I'm saying this lol
@Tarquez
Not gonna lie, I chuckled a bit when I first watched it. Just, "How did I get from a realistic space movie to this?
Yeah, I have a feeling that this was Kubrick’s inside joke… have the audience leave the theater scratching their heads, but loving that mystery as well as the cinematic beauty at the same time. I think any one that walked out of the theater and said they got it the first time, was either lying, or they worked on the film 🤣 @MrTyTheGreat
@Tarquez
I didn't get it either, really. I watched a video about it and it made a little more sense. I loved the absract ending, even if I didn't get it at first. Really, the fact that I didn't get it is why I love it so much. There's so much information to break down.
Thanks for the spotlight @MrTyTheGreat!
Thank you @SakuraSaku and @MrTyTheGreat and it it’s also one of my favorite films. It’s funny, most people I talk to about it always have this reaction “I didn’t get it“. I tell them, to either read the original story “The Sentinel” or watch 2010. Or just watch the movie for the art that it is ☺️
awesome design indeed!
This is awesome.
2001 is one of my favorite movies.
@Tarquez I think moderators choose which builds to be featured.
@tsampoy , that would be nice. Not sure how that happens, though.
@Tarquez This needs to be featured
@Tarquez Yeah, it's brand new, so it still runs about 20Gs of free space, so that's a lot of processing power that SimplePlanes can take advantage of, and allow higher part counts!
@AWESOMENESS360, Thought you were gonna tell me you had an iPhone X or higher. Good to know...might be time for me to upgrade. It’s just been working for me fine, other than high count builds on this game. Oh, the irony!
@Tarquez it's an iPhone 7+, it has 32Gs and can handle, what is my record so far, 2,100+ parts! I can play with this with some lag on Low Physics, but that's honestly way better than anything else any of my other devices could handle!
@AWESOMENESS360, I have an older iPhone 6 Plus. Glad your new phone can handle it!
@Tarquez you're welcome! It's fun being able to download more of your high part-count creations, now that I have a new phone!
@Brendorkus , yeah, I just tried opening it on my iPhone to see what would happen, and it crashed it. It will probably be the last time I make something that big…
No, I meant my phone can’t handle it...
@Tarquez
@Brendorkus , I’m really sorry about destroying your phone… Believe it or not, I made the majority of it on my iPad, and every other time I undid something (which took forever), it would crash. I knew it would be hard to launch from a mobile device, for that I apologize, my friend. Your phone is probably upset for the upvote, but I appreciate it! Thanks.
