Blamer Mk.II Supersonic Strategic Bomber

- FOREWORD

I first downloaded SimplePlanes years ago to build ships, because I wasn’t very good at building planes. However, building ships was too time-consuming, and I sometimes wanted to build something that could fly - this is one of my modest attempts. I have to give credit to the users “SimplyPlain” and “Thecatbaron”, from whom I borrowed the main wing (Tu-22KD) and landing gear (SNB-28A) (minor changes were made of course). Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to add credits manually. They really deserve it.

- INTRODUCTION

The Blamer bomber was designed in the 1960s with the goal of creating a supersonic bomber that could carry a slightly larger load than the Convair B58 Hustler, but with a shorter range. The Blamer Mk. I was a total failure - it couldn’t even reach the speed of sound. A complete redesign was immediately begun, but it took until the mid-1970s for the Mk.II to enter service, by which time supersonic bombers had lost their appeal. In this alternative universe, the Blamer was initially used to brave anti-air fire on the Cold War front and drop conventional bombs on the Eastern bloc. After the modernisation in the mid-1990s, it gained the ability to strike targets outside its region - provided that the use of precision-strike weapons was authorised. A reconnaissance variant was also developed based on the Blamer Mk. II.

- CONTROL

AG1 - Release all weapons attached to the pylons
AG2 - Activate the navigation lights
AG3 - Release the drogue parachute (which, honestly, has no significant effect)
AG4 - Activate the main bomb bay. Use Trim to open the hatch, after which eight 500lb bombs will be available.

- AFTERWORDS

As a 1970s supersonic bomber, she flies awkwardly, so flying her requires plenty of forethought, gentle handling and, most importantly, patience. Its V1 is about 200mph, and the advised landing speed is below 275mph. That's all.

Hope you enjoy your flight!

And understanding grows as long as you water the weeds.
