Variable-sweep Wings Challenge [CLOSED]
Variable Geometry Wing Challenge:
Variable-sweep wings aka, Variable Geometry Wing
A variable-sweep wing, colloquially known as a "swing-wing," is an airplane wing that may be swept back and then returned to its original straight position during flight. Therefore, it allows the aircraft's shape to be modified in flight and is an example of a variable-geometry aircraft.
HOW TO MAKE A SWIVEL WINGS:
Guys! if you get difficult with the wing mechanism, please look up this simple MiG27 that I did only out of 24 parts, LINK >>>MiG27 swivel wing
Guidelines:
- No Max or Minumum part counts (a better overall build will win, no special points will be provided for more parts used)
- No mod parts, (XML and Finetuner are allowed)
- Creations must be originally made by you
- No reusing of old builds
- Two entries per person
The best of your two entries will be the only one accounted for
At any time you can request to post a link to a fixed version of your entry if it was broken beforehand - All crafts will be tested on high speed, low speed, gliding, landing and takeoff
- be respectful to other participants
- must be a successor and of course, Have fun!
Criteria:
(x/10): How stable it is when using sweep wings? How easy is it to control? How smooth can it transition between sweep wing and normal wing position in flight?
Flight (x/10): How realistic/enjoyable is it to fly? Can it perform its intended purpose?
Aesthetics (x/10): Is the plane accurate/does the plane look nice?
Description (x/5): is the description coherent and easy to follow? Does it give the necessary instructions?

This plane flies very well
- Good in both takeoff and landing
- nice cockpit details
- Historical facts (it's a nice replica)
2nd Place: SchArCo Swinger
by @SchadeAircaftCompany
- Nice sweep wings- this also maintains the same angle for its stores on the hardpoints even when the wings are swept back (nice touch). So the missiles are always parallel to the line-of-flight at any wing position.
- nice cockpit and fuselage detail
- This plane flies very well.
- Poor landing because of the landing gear arrangement.
3rd Place: English Electric Lancer FAW.9

- Custom missiles
- Nice to fly as well as landing
Big Thanks to
@HydroMoney22, @YEEEETplane and @MrKtheguy
I value your posts too, And I give you more upvotes personally. I wish everyone happy. I am Upvoting and Spotlighting you soon
Room to improve: if the rear landing gears are more apart from each other to gain better stability during landing
sweep wing causes a bit of nose-up
I have posted my "Automatic wing sweeping" Mig27 for you guys! thanks for joining the challenge: Mig 27 with Auto wing sweep
This was so fun to participate in, especially as it was not only my first time doing a challenge, but also my first time posting an aircraft to Simpleplanes.
@MrKtheguy my pleasure. Thank you
@WinsWings it was very fun to compete in this challenge! thank you for letting me participate, it was very nice.
I will be posting the results this weekend (around 28, 29th May) Sorry to keep you guys waiting. I got a little busy with my staff outside so - And will post a nice sweep wing fighter soon, which I collaborate with @zaineman for cockpit details
I had a good concept for this but the chance is gone now because of irl things :-(
I'm excited to see who wins! Good luck.
@BigDoot Ok
@YEEEETplane should be over today, I assume results will be out later in the week
Challenge over?
@BigDoot go ahead! welcome
Can I make a variation of my first submission as my second submission?
No problem. I understand. Tag me when you finish. So that i can see. @WorstPlaneIEverMake
@WinsWings altough i would like to make a tomcat im srs delayed because of school too less time and just i want to make other plane but since its looking unlikey that i might make f 14 while on the challenge i might not make it or make it without the challenge sorry mate
Mine is gonna take a bit longer, but it’ll be before the deadline just to clarify.
Boom, it is up
welcome @BigDoot
Almost done with my submission, excited to see what everyone thinks
Thanks, I think you can made it back as successor. There are lots of tutorial on that @HydroMoney22
Gosh darn it, I accidentally messed up and my aircraft wasn't uploaded as a successor. Well, I'd still love to see what everyone here made, this looks like an awesome challenge.

@WinsWings oh, don’t be sorry about the deadline, this challenge is really fun! I should be completed with my craft before the deadline matter of fact.
sorry about that, wishing the best for your brand, (lol, I am a graphic designer working for the brands) @Kthepersonorguy
Luckily the deadline is right before my florida trip, and right on the day of my band concert.
@WinsWings (:
