Gloster Pioneer E.28/39

75 years ago today (if you read this the day it was posted), the first british jet took to the skies, for a brief flight of 17 minutes. This remarkable aircraft was first conceived by the jet pioneer Frank Whittle as a high speed war winning fighter. Once the W.2 jet had been fitted in the prototype, however, it was found it couldn't support the weight of the guns. Flight tips- Do not unstick until you have built up a speed of about 210 mph, and use VTOL UP to lower flaps. Handles very glider-like in the air, so be careful with it.
