Fairey Barracuda Mk.II

25.5k Mikan  4.9 years ago

I’m Back.

HISTORY

Built in intent to replace the Fairey Albacore, the Fairey Barracuda at first suffered from being underpowered. However, the Mk.II introduced the much more powerful Merlin engine, resulting in the adoption of the Barracuda by the Royal Navy, and a large scale service thereafter.

OPERATION

This one is mounted with 6 250lbs GP bombs, for the torpedo variant, see here

AG 4 - Bail out
AG 5 - Carrier operations
- AG 5 deactivate AG 8 - Fold wings
AG 7 - Rear Turret, deactivate AG8
AG 8 - Control

VARIANTS

Barracuda Mk.V

NOTES

My first published aircraft using mostly hinge rotator for control surfaces. It improved stability.

Good day.

Well that’s what breaks the landing gear lol
Still love it no matter what’s wrong with technicality. Same with your planes in general. Keep up the good work!

It’s highly hard to land this on a carrier deck. You can’t put your tail down in time to catch the wire because it stalls too easy and even if you were at the right speed you’d be airborne when you catch, too low a speed your gear will break apart as it clips the deck. It’s highly well done but the physics are a problem.
Don’t ya love simpleplanes’s simply awful physics :/
    Amazing job tho

I won’t be able to publish the torpedo version until I resolve a rather urgent issue, it is to do with detacher physics underwater. . . @Tang0five
