Fictional Strategic Bomber Challenge:

Deadline: 17th December 2018**

Unfortunately the deadline has to be moved back to the 3rd of January due to work related issues

Hello everyone! This is my first challenge, and today, I would like you to develop a long range, strategic bomber! There is one catch to this challenge though; the bomber must be fictional, it may bear resemblance to pre-existing real life aircraft, however there must be enough of a difference to tell it is indeed fictional.

The rules are rather simple:

  • It must be an original build of your design. If you want to use an aircraft you've designed previously, please modify it.

  • It must be a successor to this challenge, I would prefer not to go through a maze to find a participant.

  • Entries must be realistic in their performance, Maximum Speed is 2,100 MPH and must have a realistic flight performance.

  • Aircraft under 150 parts and over 700 parts will be disqualified

  • a bomb bay must be present and functional for your bomber, no bombs may be allowed on external pylons unless in the form of nuclear warheads or encased in pylon pods - see my B-93 Deltarrow or NARSSB-01 Hydra as examples.

  • Avoid using mods. XML is allowed and expected, except: drag, gravity, health and infinity fuel.

  • Each contestant may submit up to 3 aircraft

  • The description is mandatory and it will be specified: 1) Year of introduction, 2) Nation of origin 3) Brief history of plane, 4) Options and specifications

  • No national markings are required, however the more in-depth and detailed your aircraft is, the higher your score.

  • You may choose to use jet engines or prop engines... or both for that matter!

  • The Aircraft must be from the eras of 1950's through today (2020-ish)

-------------
JUDGING

  • Handling, stability, agility: 10 points :: Does it fly level? is it a stable build?

  • Realistic model and behavior: 10 points :: It is a realistic airplane design for the time. It has a noble behavior in flight

  • Details, paint and other: 10 points :: Are the details of the aircraft done well? Do said decals protrude? Does the coloration suit the aircraft?

  • Build quality: 10 points :: Does this aircraft function well or is it just eye candy?

  • Personal impression: 10 points :: Is this an aircraft that I would enjoy flying?

  • Description: 10 points :: Is the history of the aircraft well set? Does it cover any noticeable events with said aircraft? Is the history of the plane well fleshed?

------------

Rewards:

  • Winner :: 10 Upvotes- 5 Spotlight (if possible), Your bomber possibly featured in an upcoming game I'm developing - with your permission of course.

  • 2nd place :: 5 Upvotes - 3 Spotlight (if possible), Your bomber possibly featured in an upcoming game I'm developing - with your permission of course.

  • 3rd place :: 5 Upvotes - 1 Spotlight (if possible), Your bomber possibly featured in an upcoming game I'm developing - with your permission of course.

Building a big and very beefy bomber the may go mach 3 but at a certain altitude where there is barely any air to cut through. And it has three bomb bays with 10 boom 50 each

Im now building my entry for this challenge, i wanted to finish up my last drone before i focused on this. I really love this challenge, the weapons bay forces you to really think about how you build.

@MarshallLewisAerospace yes, nations may be fictional, your best bet to make it a sucessor is remove the cockpit, make the entire aircraft a sub-assembly, download this one, remove all but the cockpit and put it on your pre-existing plane.

How exactly do I make my aircraft a successor? I’ve got an aircraft I could submit but I’ve had it built for a while. (I’ll need to slow it down a bit as well, design specs called for Mach 3 capability so she’s a bit too fast for the rules as well...)

Can the nation also be fictional?

@PlanesOfOld either or works, that is completely up to you to decide, as long as it has bombs and a bomb bay :)

Cause my design has got 190 boom 50s in it and it crashes the game if you crash the plane with a full bomb bay.

Hmm would you rather the plane have hundreds of small bombs or a few very big ones

    @LegnaK that seems doable

@moomoo I would prefer to see aircraft make it from Yeager to Wright and back, but if not it's not going to be any issue.

Are fuel requirements a big issue?
