About ITA Airways:
Italia Trasporto Aereo S.p.A. (doing business as ITA Airways, is the flag carrier airline of Italy. It is owned by the government of Italy via the Ministry of Economy and Finance and Lufthansa Group. The airline was founded in 2020 as a successor to the bankrupt Alitalia. The airline flies to over 70 scheduled domestic, European, and intercontinental destinations. Its main hub is Rome Fiumicino Airport near Rome and a focus city is Linate Airport near Milan. In 2025 ITA Airways initiated the alliance change: on 3 February the airline ended its membership in SkyTeam to join Star Alliance in 2026 as part of the integration into the Lufthansa Group.

About the Airbus A220:
The Airbus A220 is a family of five-abreast narrow-body airliners by Airbus Canada Limited Partnership (ACLP). It was originally developed by Bombardier Aviation and had two years in service as the Bombardier CSeries. The program was launched on 13 July 2008. The smaller A220-100 (formerly CS100) first flew on 16 September 2013, received an initial type certificate from Transport Canada on 18 December 2015, and entered service on 15 July 2016 with launch operator Swiss Global Air Lines. The longer A220-300 (formerly CS300) first flew on 27 February 2015, received an initial type certificate on 11 July 2016, and entered service with airBaltic on 14 December 2016. Both launch operators recorded better-than-expected fuel burn and dispatch reliability, as well as positive feedback from passengers and crew.

ABOUT EI-HLA:
EI-HLA is the 1st A220-100 to be delivered to ITA Airways. One reason why ITA brought the A220 to the fleet was to use the r Milan Linate - London City Airport route, although the route map has expanded to a few more countries in Europe. ITA also planned to connect London City with Rome Fiumicino. The A220-100 is the smallest jetliner produced by Airbus, and the smallest aircraft used by ITA Airways.
This specific aircraft had its first flight on 23/10/2023, is currently 1.3 years old, and was tested at Montréal–Mirabel International Airport (YMX/CYMX) with the test registration C-FOWF. The MSN is 50068.
