The P-49D was a fighter in WW2. It fought alongside the P-51D Mustang, as a very good escort fighter, when equipped with drop tanks for a long range, but the P-49D was also an air superiority fighter in mid-ww2. It was very fast, manuverable and with an armament of 4 m3 browning .50 cals, any 109s or 190s in front of the fearsome P-49D would be shredded. This particular P-49D squadron had some of the best pilots, and were named the "Blue Tails" for their distinctive blue tails, and blue noses Drop tanks:AG1 Flaps:VTOL Down. Side note: i am actually building a foamboard model of this airplane design, should fly soon.
