Modeling and Simulating of Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

You know, I have uploaded a video of VAWT on my channel,

Perhaps you will not know what it is unless I tell you. I took this photo near my home, under the headquarters building of a great power plant, they designed and built these VAWTs here to show off they are marching for the future of green, clean power.

Most of normal wind turbine you see are like these:

Building a VAWT in Construction Simlator

This is not a photo of the real world, but a snapshot of a game "Construction Simulator", which is described by me in this article:

????!

The normal wind turbine power generator must be built against the main wind direction of a location, As all of us aircraft pilot know, different city has different wind rose chart, it is drawn by a meteorologist with historical data statistics, and the chart is provided to airport designer, help to decide the orientation of the runway.

This is wind rose plot for LaGuardia Airport (LGA), New York

A wind turbine is fixed after built, just like a runway. So, people invented VAWT, a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine, which is friendly to all directions of the wind.

A helical Darrieus turbine

Any wind will drive it, and generate electricity. As I saw it near my home, I must have a try, modeling it in SimplePlanes, and I did it!

Also, a video uploaded to my channel here:

Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

operations:

It is fixed by default, decrease wind to zero first, and press 1 to activate 1, this will ignite the turbine with a speed very slowly. Then increase the wind little by little, just like what I do in the video recorded. it will accelerate very slowly but will achieve a very fast rotating speed in the final, just wait patiently, and after that, enjoy yourself!
