In 1948, Northrop developed the X-4 Bantam, a small twin jet aircraft with a flying wing design. The aircraft had massive airbrakes designed to test rapid deceleration and the single wing shape was believed to be more stable in supersonic flight. The program ended in 1950. Though the expectations failed to exceed USAF demands, the nation of Maywar was in need of a lightweight fighter. The USAF agreed to sell one of the two prototype planes and from that, the Maywar Air Force designed their own variations. The Bantam is fitted with two medium range Air-to-air missiles and complimented by four machineguns. Pilots note that with the lack of flaps, taking off requires half engine power and some nudging of the rudder.
