Alternate history alert!
The I-48 is a fighter design based on the I-16 type 27 multiplied by 3. Size enhancement needed to enhance the control surfaces slightly, but the plane can now carry 6 SHKAS and 6 SHWAK guns, giving it an immersive firepower. The only one built started it's battle way in the Finnish war. It was known to literally tear apart enemy planes and tanks (Finnish army wasn't armored well). Captain Yanbulatov, the only man ever to fly this fought under number 42 for two years, untill the airplane was hit and the engines were devastated. When the repairs have been finished, it was already 1942. The I-48 took part in patrols and convoy defence. During a patrol, it was spotted by a Bf.109, and the I-48 was trying to get away and ran out of fuel above the sea and had to land on an Allied convoy ship. Unfortunately, it was too wide and hit the ship's superstructure. That's how the story ends. The aircraft was conservated secretly under Moscow.
