When the aliens threatened to destroy the terran republics capital on earth there wasn't enough time to assemble a fleet so quickly a group made this weapon grid of slightly adjustable superlasers to annihilate the fleet when the were in bombarding position, the weapon is a grid of superlasers on a movable float powered by an on board nuclear fusion reactor. Although very surprising the plan did work and the human discovered new tech from the debris of the alien ships.
