Project 15 “Tuna”
Hello!
Story
(Keep in mind, this is a fake story)
In 1952, the American Navy was the best in the world, with the Cold War started, they needed to figure out how to outdo the Soviet Navy. As they were modernizing their fleet, they found some old WW1 dreadnoughts they had forgot about in an old warehouse. They decided to use these 40 year old ships for carrier escorting. They retrofitted the dreadnoughts with the latest 1950s technology, better guns, more armor, speed increase, and more. This is what turned out, nicknamed “Chunkies”, it was not well liked by its crews. It made the navy look severely outdated and the Chunkies reliability was terrible. But the navy trudged on. They managed to retrofit 3 ships, named Tuna, Marlin, and Walleye, and they were sent with the USS Midway to patrol the Italian peninsula in the Mediterranean Sea. Unfortunately, because the ships were faster than intended to be when designed, Walleye had its ammunition rack collapse, killing every crewman on board and damaging a small submarine hunter next to it. When they finally made it to Italy, Marlin docked too fast, destroying the grates on the sides, and puncturing its hull as well, not able to make the journey back for repairs, and Italy not having the industry to repair the ship and its dock, they carrier fleet decided to scrap Marlin and give it to the Italians. All that was left was the Tuna, who, although had a quite nervous crew, did not suffer a fate as of its sister ships. After eventually making it back to the US, the navy docked the Tuna for 23 years, until it was put up for display as a museum. Where is now remains. Fortunately, not one shot was fired by the dreadnoughts, as the guns would’ve torn the ship apart, likely blowing up the ammunition’s rack by a study in 2008. The ship will be put up for evaluation by the US Navy to be scrapped or not sometime soon.
Build
So, this is my project that I have been working on for a long while. Keep in mind that this is the largest project I have ever done in my days of being in SimplePlanes, I have put all my building knowledge into this, this is the best I can do until I learn new things. And I named it Project 15. Also known as “Tuna”. I have made multiple W.I.Ps on this, showing you my progress. And here is the final build!
You may notice that my W.I.P 3 looks the exact same as this, and that is partially correct, I will get back to that. But for now, time to list everything on this!
The Tuna features 4 anti aircraft cannons, capable of a moderate rate of fire, they can pack quite a punch! Although they do not have an elevation system, it still is effective!
There are also 4 fixed AA guns that shoot 8mm rounds at a good rate of fire, no elevation as well.
You have 2 fixed guns on either side manned by 1 crew mate.
Although these weapons do not sound the best, The Tuna has some of the best main guns ever built.
You have 10 turrets, 4 of which have full 200 degrees of rotation, while the rest have 110 degrees.
Each turret houses 3, 100mm cannons with a range of 300 miles.
You have a specialized movement system, with 7 turrets able to be turned left or right, basically firing almost a full salvo into the side of an enemy.
About that W.I.P 3, it is nearly identical, beside one major upgrade I added.
You have 2 drone projectiles at your disposal, keep in mind that these are to be only used in emergencies.
I have put a lot of time and energy into this, and I hope it pays off! So, enjoy!

It’s ok, I misread a lot
@Sovetzkyrossiya
@Sovetzkyrossiya thanks, i was just syaing most modern ones dont have lots of turrets
@Sovetzkyrossiya
You aren’t wrong, no warship has been able to properly fit 10 turrets on the deck.
But due to these turrets small size and small guns, I wanted to make it seem like it is a really powerful ship.
@Tsuchiisan Proof
Yea, those have quite a lot of turrets, nice job making this
@lilsniper334
@lilsniper334 indeed, it is quite hard making the small details
@TwistedWarshipDude yeah, I’m just not good with replicas, so I try to make fictional builds with amazing storylines that almost seem like it’s real.
@Embo sorry, not modern, classic. Like what the USS North Carolina, or the USS Texas look like.
wtf
I like it
@lilsniper334 its good to see that there's other people that are willing to make Unorthodox design, it is boring seeing normal ABX or ABXY guns, glad i have a ship that is quite "similar" to it
But each turret has 3 guns, and modern battleships have like, 3 or 5 main turrets
@lilsniper334
@Embo is 10 not enough? The average for even modern battleships is like 6-8.
Your sure there’s enough main turrets?
