Sky Hawk (Remake)
The Sky Hawk is a short-range interceptor fighter developed by the Terran Aeronautics Company for the Terran Armed Forces in 2628 during the early post-Terran Revolution period and just before the 1st SepTerran War.
During the early days shortly after the Battle for Epsilon-B and the establishment of the Republic of Terra, the Terran Armed Forces identified a possible need for new aircraft designs specifically for air combat. Upon this realization, the military leadership of Terra called out for an order to develop a jet-powered attack fighter capable of performing admirably in air-to-air combat. The now legendary Terran Aeronautics Company would answer the call and develop the prototype for a new fighter plane design codenamed "Sky Hawk".
Competing against other aircraft designs submitted by multiple inventors and aircraft engineers, the Sky Hawk would prove itself formidable and would be accepted by the TAF who would begin full-scale production shortly after.
At the time, the Sky Hawk was the most advanced jet fighter in production, the implementation of afterburners, early radar systems, and new missile targeting systems made the Sky Hawk unique amongst other prototypes introduced during the trials. Equipped with two semi-active radar missiles increased the Sky Hawk's combat range and the use of six .30 caliber machine guns made the Sky Hawk deadly at closer range.
Unfortunately for the Sky Hawk, technology in Terra advanced very rapidly to the point that the Sky Hawk was quickly overshadowed by more advanced aircraft such as the Endevaur 2 and the Red 10, despite this however, the Sky Hawk would see extensive use in a niche role.
When the Septan Empire returned to Terra in 2662, 37 years after the conclusion of the revolution, the Sky Hawk was instrumental in defending the Terran capital from Septan attacks until the Septans were eventually expelled from Terra a second time with the assistance of the Martian Empire.
From there on out, the Sky Hawk would see service as a defensive aircraft. Sky Hawks would be kept ready at all times in airfields across the galaxy, its ability to be easily deployed and quickly clear the runway made it perfect for intercepting enemy bombers and attack craft whenever they approached a Terran runway.
The Sky Hawk would see service throughout the entirety of the 1st SepTerran War, eventually being retired in 3040 and being replaced by the more advanced Arkebus which performed the same role as the Sky Hawk but implemented much more advanced systems and weaponry. Despite its retirement from mainline service, the Sky Hawk still sees use as a training plane for military service members, as well as some popularity in the civilian market as an antique collectible.
Another fighter plane from yours truly to add to my Remake series, have fun flying this piece of history :D
