What ho, chaps!
Welcome to the;
Inaugural Simple Planes Festival of Speed
What is this heresy!? I hear you cry? Well, old chap, this is an ‘homage to all things old, oily, petrol burning and, above all, quick!
This challenge, em, challenges you to;
- Build a 1940’s 1950’s style racing automobile.
- Lend me the keys to said beauty
- Watch as I hoon it around Gold Prix Raceway
- Gaze in awe as I give her a bloody good seeing to in a straight line drag along Wright Airports main runway.
So, what can you win?
Easy!
- 10 upvotes and spots for the winner
- 6 upvotes and spots to the runner up
- 3 upvotes and spots to the second runner up
Two prizes of this sort shall be dealt out; one for looks, one for functionality.
So, whats the rules?
- The vehicle must be a successor to this post (the cockpit is in the seat back)
- The vehicle entered must use one stock car engine. Max 600hp. No other engines allowed.
- The vehicle entered must be in the spirit of a 1940s/1950s open wheeled open top racer.
- Parts counts of maximum 400 parts/minimum 150 parts (although the awesomness of your creation might induce me to be more lenient with the minimum part count).
- Stock wheels only. Four wheels must be used.
- Rear wheel drive only
- Total minimum weight of 1000lbs.
- XML modding allowed.
- The vehicle entered must fit inside the box provided. That is 6 feet wide, 13.5 feet long and 4.5 feet high (excluding the driver).
- I reserve the right to disqualify entries that are clearly not in the 40’s/50’s spirit.
Entries shall be submitted by latest 01/02/2019 CET. Thats Euro format, by the way, so February 1st.
How will this be Judged?
There are three criteria;
- 1 - One lap around the Gold Prix Raceway (best of three will be taken).
- 2 - 0-top speed-0 drag run on Wright main runway (highest speed of three runs will be taken)
- 3 - Looks, scored out of 10.
Driving will be done by me.
And thats it. Any questions? Kindly register them below.

Any More?
@GhostHTX All set :) Also, on this model, if you start to drift, just let it do its thing :P It will return back to position quite quickly, so if you have to let off gas, and any turning is good until its ready to pound the gas again lol
Cool beans. I like a nice lotus 7. @mojoyup
@GhostHTX Ill be a disembodied internet entity haha! I think you will enjoy what I have going ;) Doing a modified chassis for a lotus 7! 1952-1957 :)
Youre a good man / woman / disembodied internet entity! @mojoyup
I downloaded for the challenge :) Will post submission soon! THANK YOU!
Sweet! Go for it! I would love to see what you build. @ThePrototype
It's basically I make everything but the engine, the steering, suspension, and even possibly a body @GhostHTX
Dunno. Define “mechanical build”? The idea is to keep the power within easily measured limits. If you can guarantee that the motor isnt more powerful than a 600 hp car engine then ok! @ThePrototype
Mechanical builds allowed?
Well that took my 1970 drag chevelle of the list lol back to the drawing board
Permission granted! Welcome on board! @tylerdeveneuxmusic
@Tw1st3dPs7ch0 Well done. Youre in.

Oh please do, old boy - I dont think the natives are quite savvy with all this car lingo... @Tang0five
I’d love to take part old boy but I’ve never attempted a car before. I was thinking someone should do the D-Type. Why? Because it’s a jaaaaaag!
Ok. Well thanks, I guess...@AchuTMM
Yes you are. But are you in? @AchuTMM
