The original "Hound" '96 model had failed safety and fuel efficiency tests, and required extensive redesigns. A final redesign was presented to the board and NHTSA officials in 2004; and approved in 2006, but the damage to the brands image was already done; and only 22 batches were produced by 2007, the last year of the models production.
