The Am. 27 was a Prototype High Performance Racing Glider designed with as little drag as possible. This unorthodox airframe necessitates the need for a far back, flush cockpit, with the rear tail section acting as the door, while the pilot sits in a reclined position. The wings are slightly forward swept design as the race this glider was made (Eagle Pass) for required a long endurance, and can maintain flight at a far lower speed than the opponent. This performance, however, is a double edged sword and requires PIN-POINT ACCURATE CONTROL and HEAVY DISCIPLINE to maintain this level of performance, otherwise the performance drops to a subpar level.
