The rm-1 was developed in the early 2000s as a replacement for the f-82 for the northern lights airforce the rm-1 was ralion aironatics proto tyoe the airforce was happy with the airframe but wanted a new more powerful engine the engine chosen was R&M (rail & motors) D/E-15A-1 that meant ralion was forced to split the contract with R&M testing began and then it was excepted the rm-1 is comonly used as a wepons test vehicle it has a unmanned version somit can also be used as a target drone
