Introduction

Another build that I started quite some time ago and have only just been inspired to complete. I had around 80% of the build complete nearly a year ago and then abandoned it for other projects. I have a few like this hence my posting on a more frequent basis, I have still spend as much time and effort (if not more) than my other builds but they are being released quicker due to their being less to finish off.

Coastal Command during WW2 used hand-me-downs more often than not, aircraft that were no longer required for bombing Germany etc. were given to CC to use for hunting submarines, surface ships and general reconaissance.

I decided to design them something new. Scaled to fit into the size braket betweeen their Liberators and Catalinas but still with 4no. engines (in this case two pairs of engines linked together to drive 2no. large pusher props). This was designed to improve performance, higher cruising speed equals more distance covered or equal distance in shorter time (depending on fueling arrangments).

In its role as an anti ship aircraft it was armed with 4no. 75mm cannon, loaded internally by a dedicated crew in a similar manner to a ground based tank crew would operate. It could also carry torpedos (as shown in this variant), drop tanks, anti-sub ordinance etc. It also has an internal cargo hold to allow for it to be utilised for other purposes such as deployment of dinghies, paratroops or just to store materiel used for war purposes / transported between two places.

Due to its design to fly over water more often than not it has compartmentalised sections within the design which are airtight and allow for the aircraft to remain bouyant upon ditching at sea (but no ability to takeoff again once down)

Controls

AG1= start engines
AG3= lower loading doors / extend ramp
LG= landing gear sequence
VTOL dn= flaps

    Excellent work. Looks kinda like something in that would be in Fallout.

    @Ericshideout yeah I've looked at them, a bit of a niche part of aviation for a very small period of time. I'm fairly certain I've done some in the past but I'm on mobile at present so searching is not so easy. Not ruling them out in the future.

    @Apollo018362 I have in the past sketched some designs prior to building on SP but mostly I just use real world designs and add my own twist to it. Sometimes I'm also inspired by other people's artwork or SP builds as well.

    This thing is so cool! Odd suggestion. Would you ever consider building a mixed powered aircraft. Radial with jet boosters or like a thunderschreech.

    Hey do you draw your designs or you take inspiration from aircraft in real life? Or both?
