i.5 SuperBuck

1,237 Riskitforabiscuit  7 days ago

A 1950s twin engined long range interceptor for the OWAF. Based off a 1940s high altitude fighter the SuperBuck sports a state of the art Search and Track Radar, Fire Control Computer and 53mm cannons firing HE-VT radio fuse, allowing it to take out hostile bombers from up to 3km away.

Later in its service life, due to delays on the i.7 interceptor project, the SuperBuck was upgraded to be compatible with the early LRAAM-2 Firefly Missile as a stopgap measure, referred to as the i.5b

--Action Groups--
AG1: Open Cockpit
AG5: Jettison Outboard Pylons
AG6: Eject
AG7: Jettison Inboard Pylons (does nothing if 53mm gun pods are installed)

--Landing--
The SuperBuck requires a faster landing than most aircraft of its size. I recommend touching down at around 300-350km/h (around 200mph or 175kt)
then bringing the nose down gently before braking.

--Combat--
The SuperBuck is very heavy while carrying it's drop tanks. For best results in dogfights, aerobatics or challenging landings, it's usually wise to jettison them (AG5)
