The Messerschmitt Me 264 was a long-range strategic bomber developed during World War II for the German Luftwaffe as its main strategic bomber. The design was later selected as Messerschmitt's competitor in the Reichsluftfahrtministerium's (the German Air Ministry) Amerikabomber programme, for a strategic bomber capable of attacking New York City from bases in France or the Azores.
Three prototypes were built but production was abandoned to allow Messerschmitt to concentrate on fighter production and the Junkers Ju 390 was selected in its place. Development continued as a maritime reconnaissance aircraft instead.

I think I finally found my groove in terms of building stuff. I figured that since I hate doing cockpits, why bother? I build primarily for myself anyway… Just build until Im happy and release the damn thing. Thats my motto from now on.
Nice build…can you imagine flying one of these beasts from the Azores to NYC and back?!? I flew one leg yesterday from Lisbon to Dulles and that took almost 8 hours…in a jet! One of these things would have taken around 20 hours round trip! No thanks! Edit: This thing is 25 tons (tonnes…?) of fun! Just the right blend of features, reality and novelty to fritter away a few minutes trying to put a bomb on the deck of the Beast and get blown out of the sky!
