Overview
The MDC-AMH-100-UDM1 (Armored Mobile Howitzer-100 Unit Design Model 1) is a self-propelled howitzer designed and manufactured by Madrid Defense Corporation (MDC). With development starting in early 1950, Spin needed a brand new self-propelled howitzer to replace the aging SPH-M1H2 Titan. In just three years it was ready for service. It features a more efficient engine, an improved cannon and cannon elevation, a larger crew compartment, and a 5 second auto-loader. This machine can dispense 200mm artillery shells every 5 seconds, and has room for 120. The ammunition compartment is located between the turret area in the rear and the engine compartment in the front. The driver is located on the left of the ammunition compartment and engine ventilation systems. The AMH-100 can maintain a top speed of 27 miles per hour on flat and even terrain. It is able to withstand hits from armor piercing rounds, giving it outstanding armor at the cost of mobility. It has a fully hydraulic turret rotation and cannon elevation mechanism, granting the howitzer the ability to quickly change its orientation. It can fire rounds at a range of up to 50 km, but can reach 70 km with rocket-assisted projectiles. The AMH-100-UDM1 houses five crew members: the commander, driver, gunner, and two cannon operators. The job of the cannon operators is to ensure the safe and functioning fire of the 200mm auto-loading cannon. They can additionally assist with maintaining the vehicle and serve as crew replenishment. The autoloader is possibly the most impressive component of this howitzer, especially with its 5-second reload. This is how it works: The largest section of the vehicle (the ammunition compartment) is located between the engine compartment and crew compartment. It can house 120 rounds of ammunition, stacked on top of each other in 2 layers in separated cells. (Two horizontal conveyor belts are responsible for feeding each projectile into the loading mechanism in the middle of the turret, which folds in to grab the round and push it into the cannon breach. (See below: outlined in red is the ammunition compartment.)
It is a tricky technology that was first employed on the SPH-M1H2 Titan, but that version faced reliability issues and could sometimes become dangerous for the crew to be next to. It also had a habit of leaking hydraulic fluid constantly. Over the past decade, each little obstacle and flaw was fixed accordingly, and the new version was mounted on the AMH-100.

@34mphetamine no problem Lol
@B1BLancer quite a long explanation LOL but yeah now that i understand and i also wanted to ask about the speed but that clears it up thankyy
@34mphetamine Lol, well that is an excellent question I was waiting to be asked. It is quite the unorthodox SPH. In KE-RP, I am the Imperial republic of Spin. (I need to make a quick history lesson to give you some reasoning behind the design btw) The Imperial Republic of Spin/IRoS is the most powerful nation. I am the golden country in Europe on the KE-RP map found here (I also have southern Mexico but it’s not shown.) As you can see, I also control a lot of territory. My old howitzer was the SPH-M1H2 Titan. It was very lightly armored, and had a very unreliable early version of an autoloader. It was designed like any other howitzer, to fire kilometers away from enemy positions to provide its role. But The IRoS has been in four conflicts with UDD/The Bristolian Empire. And during these conflicts, we learned that our howitzers were constantly being found and destroyed by small armored vehicles and tanks. This also happened with fighting the nation of Jerry after we had political opposition. Lesson learned, and now our howitzers are more armored around the crew compartment and ammunition. But about the layout: the front features 2/3 the armor of the sides. This is because everything is meant to protect the crew. You can repair or replace a SPH or tank, but not a trained experienced crew. The engine is placed very far forward with insulation behind it to eat enemy shots, and be separate from the ammunition and driver during a fire. The horizontally mounted conveyor is built in such a way that is improved from the Titan, that the nearest part is far enough away from the crew that there is room for internal armor plating to prevent the ammunition from cooking the crew. It has a side armor thickness of 110mm in some parts, making it less likely for the ammunition to be hit. Furthermore, in the RP there is an extended range of this cannon compared to the Titan. We can position them farther away to give more reaction time for the crew. All of this comes at the price of speed and acceleration. That is the least of our concerns however, as the AMH-100-UDM1 doesn’t need speed to protect itself. It has thick armor in the event of far enemy incursions, and angled turret armor to further protect the crew. The crew is also spread out very far making it a literal school bus sized monster. It isn’t practical for close-up engagements obviously, the shielded MG and thicker than usual armor are last resorts,
im dumbfounded rn how is a sph that purposedly set place far from the warzone have close range stuff like thick armor and a shielded machinegunlike isnt that defeats the purpose of them and being that sph does not have a low profile nor any low angles to deflect shells? but dw tis a cool looking build nevertheless lol
@Randomplayer well the engine is in a completely different area. All of the engine is behind that grey panel in the front. The ventilation shafts and vents just lead to it, with insulation between it and the driver and ammo storage.
@B1BLancer true. Although anything can happen, like an onboard engine fire. Unless it just doesn’t work like that
@Randomplayer that is the very maximum. The vehicle is designed for maximum crew protection with very thick armor on the sides and front surrounding the ammo and crew compartment near the conveyor belt, which is why it only has a top speed of 27 mph. Furthermore, it isn’t a tank. It is a self-propelled howitzer. It fires kilometers away from the enemy lines and can reposition quickly. And it dispenses each round every 5 seconds too so it would take 10 minutes to fire every shell with minimum delay. Realistically speaking, the AMH-100 would only carry about half of that (usually around 50-70 shells) and fire them all from an entrenched position. It could return back to an ammunition depot for more rounds, or a CATV-2 Hauler could carry them to the entrenched position for reloading. But hey, at least it’s not like the soviet MBTs whereas if it gets ammo racked the crew experiences a very very very brief career in the soviet Air Force.
Holy 120 shells, if it gets hit with anything it will be like that one image of the centurion ARVE
@TheMouse tysm! Too bad I finally surpassed you 😭
@GeneralCorpInc Lol
This is actually a super awesome build
Just pretend I spotlighted it for you lol
The hell is that monstruous ammount of details??? 🤯
@Morsele tysm!
So cool!
@B1BLancer
Ok goodnight
@SPWithLizzie nah, he ain’t dumb. I’m gonna try and sleep now though see you later
@B1BLancer
Your little brother is dumber than mine😭
@SPWithLizzie the little gremlin just did it again… 😭
@SPWithLizzie bro this kid kept moving around in his sleep. It’s a bunk bed and I have the top so I went down to look for a charger in the drawers and he legit woke up by doing a little dance 😭
I thought he was having a seizure or smth 💀
@B1BLancer
Dumb@ss little brother😭
@SPWithLizzie nah idk. Maybe everyone’s a heavy sleeper. My little brother is in the same room as me and was already awake because he kept hitting his elbow against his bed’s headrest. I’m gonna have to pray that I’m good bro 😭🙏
@B1BLancer
😭
You're so done
@SPWithLizzie Lol. I went outside my room to get a charger and when I came back my golden retriever mistook me for an intruder and started barking 😭
I think everyone woke up lowkey
