M26/Mk 2 Heavy Machine Gun "Meat Chopper", "Sword of Thanatos"
Press (1) and VTOL to control traverse. Press (2) and VTOL to control elevation. The primary belt-fed heavy machine gun of the Pilotmario Armed Forces. Developed as a joint Army-Navy-Air Force project, it is the longest-serving firearm in active use for its original role, although Mk 1 Pistols are not uncommon, and the K-10 is still in service as a sniper rifle. The Army and Marines employs it as a heavy pintle mount anti-material and anti-personnel wepaon on fixed positions as well as on vehicles as a primary, coaxial, or pintle mount. The Pilotmario Navy uses this as a close-range defensive weapon against small craft. It serves as the main armament of Harbor Patrol Boats. The Pilotmario Air Force uses an electrically-fired variant known as the Mk 2, which has a slightly higher rate of fire, a muzzle brake, and thinner barrels to save weight. Thick barrels are not necessary since the guns can rely on an aircraft's airflow to cool them. In all forms, it continues to see extensive use, although automatic cannons have since supplanted it as an aircraft armament. This is an Army K-26 with two spare barrels. The red coloring is the barrels heating up. Cartridges feed from either the left or right, depending on the configuration, but always eject downwards. Unlike almost all Pilotmario Army weapons, there is no internal safety, although troops often jam spent brass between the grip sand the spade trigger as an ad-hoc safety. This has since been incorporated into the manual of arms.
