Light Airborne Attack Vehicle
Origin & Design
In 1974, Buran Military Products (BMP) was tasked with creating a lightweight, high-speed and air-droppable attack vehicle for fast advances, flanking and reconnaissance with a broad range of self-defence equipment. BMP within three years created an experimental vehicle, the LAAV-1, fulfilling all the requirements set by the Ministry of Defence. It was used in many conflicts, until its gradual replacement with other vehicles in 1998.
