Farman SNCAC F.223.3
History/Intro!
Howdy, y'all! I'm back once again with a unique aircraft that was forgotten in history: the Farman F.223.3 (Farman was renamed to Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Centre, aka Aerocentre/SNCAC, once France nationalized the Farman corporation with many other major aeronautical companies shortly before the invasion of Poland)
This aircraft was the "most successful" off all of the F.220 models produced. The French basic design for strategic bombers during the interwar period was to have 4 engines, push-pull, with them under two wings, connected by struts. This was proven as a good design feature for the predecessor, the F.211 model, which was one of the last biplane bombers used by the French. The F.220 differed in that it had a longer range, retractable landing gear, and a much larger bomb load. Now, the French had about 88 of these bombers built, from the F.220.1 model, all the way to the F.224.4 model, which may not be impressive, but no other Allied force had strategic bombers at the outbreak of the war
The F.223.3 was the most well-liked by crews, it landed well, and the rivets didn't just fall out on their own. It had a unique bomb bay, as it could hold 500 kg bombs or 50 kg bombs, but they all were facing downwards to make the dropping more effective, albeit inefficient. The plane also sometimes had 1 or 2 20mm autocannons, as well as a ball turret in the nose that held a 7.63 mm machine gun, although this was less common, and most had no protection other than fighter planes, as the F.223.3 was actually originally a mail carrier, as the French ministry originally was hesitant on accepting it as a bomber, as the French government was as disorganized as can be said. All around, the plane exceeded all of the French requirements for a better bomber, and was produced in limited numbers
The most notable achievement of this aircraft is that the 7th of June, 1940, one of these flew from Dunkirk and bombed Berlin alone, and came back unharmed. Greatly cheered on, the bomber was sent once again with incendiary bombs, which had to be thrown by hand, and Berlin was damaged quite a bit. Although, the German propaganda machine turned it around into being just a practice air raid to teach people what to do in the event of a bombing
Also, fun fact, this is the first actual dedicated Farman F.223 model on the site!! There are like 1 or 2 F.220s and such, but they don't include a lot of details that are blueprint accurate, so this is technically the first one, I guess? At least of the F.223 XD
Controls
Now, with that out of the way, here are the controls!
AG1: Bomb bay doors/Bomb activation
Trim: Well, this is pretty obvious lol
All regular flight controls!
Screenshots/Historical Pictures
I hope y'all enjoy!!!!
*Note: Pretty much every plane built was a different model, so I did the one without the gun turrets to make it easier as I had no reliable sources or blueprints for the turrets, and the blueprint I used had different noses, so I did the longer one without the machine gun

Holy guacamole.. I never though this would recieve this much attention... thank you all so so much!!
This is my first almost top of the front page build!!
@WinsWings Thank you! I'm definitely super proud of this build lol. I'm hoping to get back into this game and get better at interiors now that college is starting up soon.
@Noplane I agree! After my next plane I'm wanting to do a few more lesser known French planes... do you have any good ideas for ones?
.
I'm going to try and get back into this game so I want to start up a new list of planes to build.
Sitting in the nose cockpit in the front is so cool.
@AngularMomentum 😂
A bunch of planes that have so much drag they could do a drag race enter the battle
@titaniciceberg3 lmao, all good man!
@Noplane okay!!! I actually was almost finished making the Dewontine with an Aussie friend... I'll see about it!
@TurtlesThatFly lol thanks!!
@WinsWings yeah I saw yours and flew her around! She was awesome! Thanks again!
@titaniciceberg3 hitler INVADES FRANCE, lives to regret it

The funny war thunder plane (nice replica!)
@LieutenantSOT it is a nice plane. I did my one freehand once I saw it on YouTube. It was fun. But your replica build is so cool
Hey! Lets go!
@Noplane hey just name some for me and I'll add them to my list! My next plane will probably be a German X-plane
.
I like making replicas of lesser-known aircraft or ones that were never made past the paper stage, so I'm always open for suggestions!
@WinsWings thank you so much!!
I thought it would look terrible at first, but I'm pretty happy lol
Wish there were more french vehicles in this game
awesome. great replica.
Wait, Bog, you like this!? Thank you so much!!
