BAe Warrior GR.1 (Armor Challenge)
Redundancy. Thats the name of the game here.
Gents, this is the BAe Warrior GR.1 - my entry to the armour challenge. Yes, it should have a “u” in there.
She is founded in the same concept that spawned the Republic A-10 Thunderbolt ll, that is; a flying weapons dump that can linger for hours over the battlefield, dealing death and destruction at will to the bad guys, whoever they might be today.
She is slow, ugly, and has 14 stores points plus an internal weapons bay. Lots of trigger time to be had with this kite.
I also went a little bit nuts with the cockpit.
Now - as for the redundancy thing;
This kite has redundant lifting surfaces (i.e. a total of 8 structural wings), with over-layed armour (fuselage blocks) and additional surface armour on the lower surfaces (structural panels). The idea being that it should take quite a bit to take off a wing panel, but if you do, there are three more keeping her aloft... The same goes for the horizontal stabiliser - there are three per side, with a fuselage block over-lay. The twin vertical stabs are doubled up on each side.
The fuselage uses a layered construction method, with all fuel being held internally, that is, all fuel carrying blocks have at least one block between them and incoming fire. It is also possible to fill up the inner wings (or wherever you want - this is Simple Planes!) with fuel, but for the interests of this competition, I chose not to.
The pilot sits in a fairly well protected cockpit - double armoured from the underside (the cannon assembly is directly underneath the pilot).
In terms of weapons capability, she has a four barrel rotary cannon (many thanks to Minecraftpoweer for the guns with recoil - effing awesome work there) and an internal weapons bay, along with 12 under wing stores points and 2 under fuselage stores points. There is room for a s*!t load of weaponry on this kite.
For this challenge, however, I chose to go minimal with the explosives. There is no point building an impervious flying tank only to strap a whole load of high explosive weapons to it.
One stray round and it's Bang! Zoom! Straight to the Moon! As it were...
So she carries a load of inert drop tanks plus the required 4 X boom 50s internally, along with her cannon. I will probably release a bombed up version of her later, just for fun.
Now that this is said - I'm sure that she will implode at the first near miss...
Controls!
AG1 - activate landing gear (GEAR) command to cycle up / Down - note the three green indicator lights on the right hand cockpit display.
AG1 - lock / unlock nose wheel
AG1 - toggle landing light.
AG2 - Arm cannon - note the red "armed" light on the left hand cockpit display
AG3 - Drop 4 outer stores points - note the red "dropped" lights on the left hand cockpit display
AG4 - Drop 4 mid wing stores points- note the red "dropped" lights on the left hand cockpit display
AG5 - Drop the 4 inner wing and two under fuselage stores points - note the... yeah, you get the drill
AG6 - Activate bomb bay doors (GEAR) command to cycle open/closed. Note the yellow indicator light to the right of the landing gear lights.
AG7 - Drop internal stores - note the red "dropped" light on the left hand display.
AG8 - toggle nav lights
Have fun!

Cheers very muchly. Its all the bloody extra bits... @Tang0five
Woah that’s some part count old fellow, I’ll dial the settings down on my steam powered iPad to enjoy this!
@mikoyanster Glad you like it! I just hope she manages more than one lap...
@GhostHTX Great!
And I just realised that I forgot to add air brakes... Ah well - she is so draggy that I dont think they are required...
you're welcome
@mikoyanster Thanks for the upvote and spotlight! This was a great challenge idea.
I'm really excited to see how she does. She seems to have a weak spot in the aft furelage - a direct hit somewhere there causes the gear to clip through the upper fuselage and she loses pitch control. This tends to result in a clean ground / airframe interface with accompanying fireball. The irritating thing is that she usually survives the crash intact... Not flyable, but intact...
@yoshicraze Domo arigato!
@kgv23 Danke!
@SSSvaSSa Grazie!
