Development History:

In 1946, as the aviation world entered the jet engine era, the Cascadian Navy realized its need for modern jet-powered fighter aircraft. In 1947, the Cascadian Navy initiated a program to develop modern carrier-based fighter jets. The desired specifications included a multi-role fighter capable of supersonic speeds. The design for this aircraft was created in Lab 013, led by aerospace engineer Jean W. Hart and his team. The blueprint was then handed over to Merpati Aerospace Industries (MAI).

In 1948, the program produced a prototype named B-1, which conducted its maiden flight two months later. Subsequently, the Cascadian Navy ordered three aircraft for testing and research purposes. One aircraft was sent to the Air Force, and another was delivered to the National Aerospace Agency. After multiple tests and refinements, the aircraft received approval for production. In 1950, it officially entered the production line.

Merpati Aerospace Industries (MAI) designated the aircraft with the codename "Mer-1," making it the first company-produced aircraft to bear the company's name (as military or national standard agencies usually assigned names). However, in 1951, all companies were granted the same naming rights for commercial purposes. Despite this, the Navy continued to designate the aircraft with the codename "Servant," leading to its widespread recognition as the Mer-1 Servant.

In 1952, the aircraft officially entered service with the Cascadian Navy and was also utilized by the Cascadian Air Force. Its combat debut occurred during the Silverfall War in 1954—a conflict named after a waterfall near the eastern border of a neighboring nation. This war was triggered by military aggression from the neighboring country, supported by western region rebels aiming to seize Grapeland, a western border territory belonging to Cascadia.

During the war, the Mer-1 Servant became the backbone of both the Navy and Air Force, excelling in dogfights and ground attack missions. The war concluded in 1955 with a peace agreement signed by all three parties. The aircraft achieved a combat record of 45 victories and 23 losses, significantly boosting its reputation in the international market.

Summary:

The MAI Mer-1 Servant is a second-generation, twin-engine, single-seat supersonic multirole fighter aircraft designed in 1947. This aircraft is well-known for its use by the Cascadian Navy and Air Force during the Silverfall War.
