The Sokarev SiA-24, developed jointly by Sokarev Aero and Bratilov-Odecca, was made to replace the aging NU-60 as the new standard fighter of the Alaskan Air Force. Made in 1962 and entering service in 1965, it would serve with American F4 Phantoms over the skies of Vietnam during the war. Known for reliability and ease-of-maintenance, the SiA-24 was kept in service until 1993 when it was replaced by the SiA-35.
