This Battle Cruiser is an upgrade to a previous, older Cruiser from the 40s. Advancements in Missile and radar technology gave The navy many new toys to play with, and at the time, it seemed logical to upgrade their existing fleet of Eugen Cruisers with these missile to improve their offensive and defensive capabilities rather than waste millions of dollars to build a new fleet of warships.
Thus the Eugen class unexpectedly had new life breathed into them and will continue serving the navy well for decades more.

The Eugen cruisers received new Surface to Surface Skipper Missiles (SSM-1 Skippers) in 14 cells on each sides of the ship and Surface to Air Arrow Missiles(SAM-02 ARROW) in 16 Vertical Launch Silos. These missiles make up the bulk of Long range Offensive capabilities for the cruisers, allowing it to undergo Hunter killer and Air denial missions. Its Main Firepower however, is still its main 8 inch rapid fire cannons in dual turrets. Turret number 4 was removed in favor of an Helicopter pad. Allowing the cruisers to service helicopters both for transport and anti submarine warfare.
All the extra weight caused the ship's Propulsion system to get an upgrade as well, kicking it up to speeds of 53 km/h.
