El Al LY1862 is a Boeing 747-258F cargo aircraft with Israeli Airways airframe number 4X-AXG. On October 4, 1992, the flight departed from New York to Tel Aviv, Israel, and stopped at Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Shortly after taking off at Schipp Airport in the Netherlands, it crashed into a residential area in the Pekimmir district on the outskirts of Amsterdam, resulting in 4 people on board and 39 on the ground. A total of 43 people were killed and many injured. In addition to these deaths, 11 people were seriously injured and 15 were lightly injured. The exact number of people killed on the ground is controversial because the authorities attached great importance to illegal immigrants at that time
