Succeeding where the XS-002 had failed, the XS-004 is the ultimate fast attacker/Interceptor which can reach Mach 2 at low altitudes.
The XS-004 was originally intended to be a dogfighter, like the 003 and 001 models, however, I decided to have some fun with the BFE-300 parts to give it massive thrust.
It is armed more realistically this time, with four MSL and two SAAM missiles, as well as two LC-02 Laser Cannons.
Unlike it's namesake, the XS-004 outspeeds most of it's contemporaries.
This aircraft is not without flaw, however. To maintain maximum speed, countermeasures were omitted as to squeeze as much speed as possible.
I mean it has good maneuverability anyways...
And if you think about it, it like and of looks like a bird in flight from the front aspect.
